The information is reported by a correspondent of the Ukrinform news agency.
“This is the first women’s anatomical body armor produced by the Ukrainian Armor company in Ukraine. This is our own development, from scratch, tested and certified by the Ministry of Defense in accordance with the technical requirements of the ministry,” said the head of the support department of the company, Yehor Krayevskyi.
According to him, a basic bulletproof vest without armor plates belongs to the second class of protection; that is, it protects against debris and bullets fired from a TT pistol. At the same time, you can insert an armor plate up to the 6th level of protection into the front and back pockets of the body armor, thanks to which it can withstand even a shot from a sniper rifle.
“One of the features of this bulletproof vest is its anatomy. The features of the female body are taken into account here. The pocket under the body armor is placed in front; it does not interfere but provides the same protection as the men’s body armor. Also, there are ballistic bags all over the bulletproof vest,” Krayevskyi noted.
He specified that the protection of collarbones and sides in the cummerbunds, on the back, etc., is ensured.
“This is all protection from ultra-high molecular polyethylene, which holds debris and gunshots,” the company representative explained.
Journalists can apply for a bulletproof vest at the Misiya [Mission] charitable foundation, which will seek funding or the media editorial staff can order a bulletproof vest by contacting the manufacturer.
Anna Khabarova, representative of Misiya, reported that the cost of the body armor itself (without plates) is from UAH 18,000, but the price may vary depending on a number of factors, including size, etc.
The First Secretary of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), Lina Kushch, noted that the NUJU will leave a link on its resources for media women so that they can submit an application for a bulletproof vest. It will cost both journalists and their newsrooms nothing.
Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Freedom of Speech Yaroslav Yurchyshyn thanked the journalists for their work. “Your work is difficult to overestimate; it is priceless. And of course, the least that the state can do … where we can protect you is to give you a higher level of quality of that protection,” he said.
Ukrainian Armor is a manufacturer of bulletproof vests, ballistic helmets, lightweight pressed and composite ceramic armor plates, and tactical ammunition. The company has been operating since 2014.
