The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) together with The Ukrainian Media Fund Nordic continue the program of support for regional publications that operate in conditions of constant power outages. The newsroom of the Peremoha newspaper from the frontline Krasnopillia, Sumy Region, received another targeted non-refundable aid – an EcoFlow charging station.

As the deputy editor-in-chief of the publication, Olha Kyslenko, who is currently managing the publication due to the mobilization of the editor, said, last winter was a real test for the team: due to russian shelling, there was no light for up to 20 hours a day.

“This was especially critical on newspaper day, when the issue was to be submitted for printing. Then the newspaper’s publication was under threat, mobile communication and the Internet often disappeared,” recalls Olha Kyslenko.

The charging station that the newsroom had before provided work for only three to four hours, and during short periods of power supply it did not have time to fully charge. The issue had to be typed late in the evening and very early in the morning.

Now the team has two charging stations – and this, according to the deputy editor, is not just technical assistance, but a sense of support.

“The computer, laptop, router will have power for a full working day. Phones will be charged. This means that the preparation of our materials will no longer depend on the stability of the network,” says Olha Kyslenko.

The team of the Peremoha newspaper expressed sincere gratitude to NUJU and The Ukrainian Media Fund Nordic for understanding the needs of border media and timely assistance.

“Now our gadgets will be charged, and we will be able to carry out work processes on the laptop and computer even during outages. Your help is not just equipment, it is confidence that we will be able to work and be useful,” the newsroom emphasized.

As earlier reported, the NUJU and The Ukrainian Media Fund Nordic provide targeted non-repayable financial assistance to a number of Ukrainian publications for the purchase of modern charging stations to ensure the energy sustainability of newsrooms in regions suffering from russian attacks on the energy system.
