Oleksandr Driz, the general producer of the international production center, For-Post, worked in Kharkiv the other day. Together with his team, the famous Ukrainian screenwriter filmed a part of the upcoming film titled Queens in the Trenches in the city. On the eve of the shooting day, Oleksandr Driz and stage producer Yevheniya Tsvetanska visited the Kharkiv Journalists’ Solidarity Center (JSC) of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU). During a brief meeting at the JSC’s co-working space, the film crew received protective gear and sleeping bags to ensure the filming was safe. After all, the shooting site for the film is also the territory close to the hostilities.
“Our cameraman, together with one of the heroines of the film, Kuba, was present at the evacuation of a wounded. That is, they actually took the wounded soldier to safety. Filming also took place at the training ground. And we really needed your bulletproof vests because, without them, we wouldn’t have been allowed into this shoot. I am very grateful to you. You provide good!” Oleksandr Driz said after the filming.
In addition to Yuliya Kuba, the heroines of the film were Dana Vynohradova, a deputy commander of the Right Sector, and Oresta Brit, a model/head of the BON charity fund and a public figure.
“The queens are in the trenches,” jokes the producer. “I wanted to say “Beauties in the trenches.” They are really beautiful. Before the war, each of them was a famous person. The Kyiv beauty queen was Oresta Brit. Yuliya Kuba, whom we filmed here in Kharkiv, serves in the 92nd Brigade, and she is a well-known fashion designer who had her own brand before the war. When the war started, they all went to the trenches, so to speak. The third heroine is Dana Vynohradova. She is the deputy commander of the Right Sector brigade. A very interesting person and our film is about them.”
Oleksandr Driz‘s new tape is a project supported by the Ukrainian Cultural Fund. The premiere is planned by the team for the end of this year at the media site of Channel 24.
