Over 9,000 Ukrainian and foreign journalists have received support through the network of Journalists’ Solidarity Centers (JSC) since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, but this infrastructure has been under threat due to the loss of stable funding. The corresponding resolution On Support for Journalist Solidarity Centers in Ukraine, submitted by the Swedish Union of Journalists and the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), was adopted at the annual meeting of the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) in Ankara on June 18-19, 2026.

The resolution instructs the EFJ Steering Committee to lobby for long-term institutional support for the JSC network before European institutions and governments, to promote the creation of sustainable funding mechanisms for the network, and to promote international recognition of the Centers as an effective model for the protection of journalists during armed conflict.
