During one of the largest russian missile and drone attacks on Kyiv, the office of the Kyiv regional organization of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), located at the beginning of Khreshchatyk Street, was also damaged.

The premises were hit by a blast wave from a russian missile: the windows in the building were damaged, and glass from a large window structure fell out inside the office.

Against the backdrop of the large-scale destruction in Kyiv and the significant damage suffered by media newsrooms in the center of the capital, these damages are not critical. At the same time, they once again demonstrate that russian attacks also hit the infrastructure related to the work of journalists and ensuring public access to information.

Deputy Head of the Kyiv regional organization of the NUJU, Alla Maliyenko, reported that after the glass is cleaned, the office will be able to continue working.

“The most important thing is all the targets. After the glass is cleaned, the office will work. But in the near future we will have to solve the issue of complete replacement of windows,” says Alla Maliyenko.

Despite the damage, the NUJU continues to support fellow journalists and newsrooms in Kyiv and the regions. The Journalists’ Solidarity Centers (JSC) in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv are open to colleagues.
