JOURNALISTS OF UKRAINE
At the end of March, 12 new members joined the Ivano-Frankivsk regional organization of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU).
It is worth mentioning that during the entire 2022, only 14 media men and women became members of the regional Organization.
During the Realities Brought by War safety training, Viktoriya Plakhta, the executive secretary of the NUJU‘s regional organization/coordinator of the Journalists’ Solidarity Center, handed out membership cards to five new members.
In particular, the cards were handed out to a journalist and a cameraman of the PIK [stands from Prykarpattia Information Corporation] online publication, Nadiya Dzinko and Ivan Denysiuk; Mykola Vilka representing the press service of the territorial administration of the Judicial Protection Service in the region; Vasyl Zhupnyk, a journalist for the Halychyna region TV company and the RAI TV and radio company; and Oleksandr Nevhamonnyi, the host of Halychyna24 and a journalist for the Lohos newspaper.
“I am glad I have the honor of receiving a NUJU member card. I thank my colleagues for accepting me into their professional circle. The word is very important,” Mykola Vilka said during the member card reception ceremony.

As earlier reported, the Journalists’ Solidarity Centers is an initiative of the NUJU implemented with the support of the International and European Federations of Journalists and UNESCO. The initiative is designated to help media representatives working in Ukraine during the war. The Centers operate in Kyiv, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipro and provide journalists with organizational, technical, legal, psychological, and other types of assistance.
UNESCO is the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization. It contributes to peace and security by promoting international cooperation in education, sciences, culture, communication, and information. UNESCO promotes knowledge sharing and the free flow of ideas to accelerate mutual understanding. It is the coordinator of the UN Action Plan on the Safety of Journalists and the Issue of Impunity, which aims to create a free and safe environment for journalists and media workers, thus strengthening peace, democracy, and sustainable development worldwide. UNESCO is working closely with its partner organizations in Ukraine to provide support to journalists on the ground.
