The gratitude of the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting was received by the Kherson journalist Maryna Savchenko. She remained in the occupied city and, risking her own safety, continued to convey the truth to the world. After leaving the occupation, Maryna remains in her profession: she documents the consequences of russian aggression and tells the stories of people who continue to live and survive in the frontline Kherson Region.

The gratitude of the Ground Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was awarded to Svitlana Karpenko, the director of the Trudova Slava newspaper from the Zaporizhzhia Region. In the most difficult months, she preserved the editorial staff and organized the relocation of the publication. Thanks to this, the newspaper has never lost touch with its readers, for many of whom it remains the only reliable source of local information.

“Even in the most difficult times, local newspapers keep people connected and give communities a sense that they are not alone,” said NUJU First Secretary Lina Kushch.

And for the journalists themselves, this is an understanding that their work is noticeable, and they are part of a larger community. Svitlana Karpenko admits:

“When I am in Kyiv, I always go to the NUJU — you feel at home here. Thank you for the Journalists’ Solidarity Center (JSC) in Zaporizhzhia. This is not just help, this is a real family that does not let you give up.”
