Volunteers from the town of Alessandria in northern Italy, representing the National humanitarian association “Anteas Alessandria”, visited the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine. The volunteers provided the Union with Starlink and energy equipment.

Italian volunteers were in Kyiv for the first time. Previously, they visited the Lviv regional center of the NUJU, where they provided with generator the editorial office of the newspaper “Novyi Chas” and radio “ZhydachivFM”. However, they help not only to journalists.

“From the beginning of the war, we have been thinking about how we can be useful to Ukraine. The residents of Alessandria collected everything – food, clothing, blankets… On March 8, we brought humanitarian aid to Ukrainians in the Polish city of Przemyśl for the first time. During the second trip with humanitarian aid, we took 85 refugees from Ukraine to Alessandria,” said Luciano Cartolano, the head of the “Anteas Alessandria” association.

On these days Italian volunteers visited Rzhyshchiv. They brought humanitarian aid to those affected by a recent shelling, as well as to residents of a home for the elderly.

“We saw the victims, we saw the destroyed houses, and we believe that the war is madness. We continue to raise money to help to Ukrainians. We are with you, we believe in Ukraine’s victory,” added Luciano Cartolano.

“We try to support our journalist colleagues in every way – with individual protective equipment, financially, and by creating opportunities for media to have energy autonomy,” said Sergiy Tomilenko, the President of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine. “So we want to thank you for power banks, generators, and overall – for humanitarian aid to our citizens. Because today Ukrainians have been fighting not only for their future, but for the future of all Europe.”

In addition, the Italians brought a special gift – cups with an image of a drawing from the exhibition of works by Ukrainian children refugees.

At the end of last year, with the assistance of the NUJU, The renaissance charity foundation of Bucha district and The Ukrainian soul charity foundation, an exhibition of children’s paintings was held in Milan, created by those who had to flee from the war.

Thanks to the Lombardy Journalists Association, including Annie Del Freo and Paolo Perruccini), the event took place at the most prestigious museum of contemporary art in Milan, “MUDEK.” And even now, together with volunteers, our Italian colleagues have an opportunity to help Ukraine.

Now the Lombardy Journalists Association has taken patronage on the exhibition, and it continues to travel to many cities in Italy.
