“Solidarity is the key slogan and key principle of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine. We express our solidarity with fellow journalists captured by the occupiers, and we are doing everything possible for their release!” stressed NUJU President Sergiy Tomilenko, speaking yesterday at the event titled War Crimes Against Journalists Must Not Go Unpunished, dedicated to the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists.

“From 2006 to 2023, more than 1,600 journalists were killed in the world. In 90% of cases, these murders remained unpunished, and therefore, crimes are becoming more frequent and more brutal,” emphasized the First Secretary of the NUJU, Lina Kushch. “We see this in the example of russian aggression in Ukraine.”

The participants in the event signed Letters of Solidarity – appeals to the captured colleagues, which the NUJU will hand over to their families.

The event took place in the space of the exhibition Executed Free Speech, which the NUJU held in Kyiv at the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War.
