Ukrainian front-line local press conquers the hearts of Swedish colleagues. A special moment at the Congress of the Swedish Union of Journalists – late in the evening of March 5, at 11 p.m. (Kyiv time), 100 delegates watched with great attention the film On The Frontier, created by the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU).
“This screening became a symbol of deep respect for the courage and dedication to the profession of all Ukrainian journalists and editors of front-line media,” notes NUJU President Sergiy Tomilenko, who became an honored guest of the Congress of the Swedish Union of Journalists. “It was a real honor for me to present the film about the incredible Vasyl Myroshnyk and tell about the heroic work of the entire Ukrainian front-line press.”
Despite the late hour (the Swedish colleagues were extremely enthusiastic discussing current issues of their activities until late at night), the audience was impressed by the story of a Ukrainian editor who travels 400 kilometers along front-line roads every week to deliver the newspaper to readers.
“I am infinitely grateful to the President of the Swedish Union, Ulrika Hyllert, for her sincerity and warm welcome. This solidarity is invaluable to us! Journalists are important! And our front-line press is not just a source of information; it is a symbol of an unconquered Ukraine!” added Sergiy Tomilenko.
