Today’s shelling of Kyiv damaged an apartment building where Radio Liberty correspondent Zoriana Stepanenko lives.
According to the journalist, the hit occurred several floors below her apartment. Zoriana is currently working in Brussels and is learning about the consequences from neighbors and friends.
“The residents of the apartments ‘between us’ are talking about broken windows. As I understand it, this is the maximum that happened to ours. We will know more when our friends get there today,” she said in a comment to the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU).
According to her, the building was put into operation before the invasion, so relatively few people live there. Many did not undertake repairs in these conditions.
“We did not do any repairs either, so none of our relatives lived there and, accordingly, were injured,” the media personality noted.
On her Facebook page, she expressed her gratitude to all the friends and acquaintances who offered her help as soon as they learned about the house being hit: “You are incredible. You are going through those nightmares, risking much more and more than just losing your home, and you ask if we need help. I am just in shock. I went to dry my eyes. Thank you for that!”
