The well-known Zaporizhzhia military correspondent and fixer, Oleksandr Pavlov, has been working in the combat zone since 2014. He prepares reports for foreign publications and assists foreign journalists, accompanying them to the front lines and organizing filming and interviews. Military correspondent Pavlov has developed friendly relations with many foreign colleagues. They appreciate his professionalism and experience and listen to his advice. He is, figuratively speaking, their voice, their eyes, and their ears. It is thanks to the work of Oleksandr Pavlov that foreign media outlets create an objective picture of events, sincerely supporting Ukraine in their materials.

Returning to Zaporizhzhia from trips to the front line (and he has to work in different directions of the front), Oleksandr Pavlov stops by the Journalists’ Solidarity Center (JSC) of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) to meet with colleagues, talk about the situation on the front line, which is told firsthand, about the heroism of our soldiers, the thoughts and moods of foreign journalists and their support for Ukraine.

This time, Oleksandr supplemented his frank conversation with a presentation of fragments from the documentary “Trump-Putin: They Want to Kill Europe,” which was released in the analytical section of CDANSL’AIR.

This is a film co-produced by France TV and the Maximal Productions company. Its authors are French journalists Alain Pirot and Gaëlle Schwaller. The program was hosted by the famous French TV star Caroline Roux. Our colleague, Oleksandr Pavlov, was the local producer of this project in Ukraine.

The film was shot in the winter and spring of 2025 in several countries. In Ukraine, filming took two weeks in April.

Ivan Kushnirenko, a journalist and writer from Huliaipole, shares his impressions after the presentation.

“The film, although a documentary, evokes many emotions. This topic is very close to me, as I have just released the second book, titled Defenders of the Huliaipole Region, about our defenders fighting on the Zaporizhzhia Axis near Huliaipole. They discuss, in particular, how difficult each battle is, with insufficient weapons and equipment, and how much we need the support of Europe and America to defeat the cruel enemy and liberate our land from the invaders. The film that we have just watched also shows the war as it is, objectively highlights its horrors, and the resilience of Ukrainians, who are now defending not only their country, but all of Europe. And that is why it is necessary to support their struggle, not with words, but with real help, with weapons and equipment. And the courage, skill, and devotion of Ukrainian soldiers are mesmerizing,” the journalist emphasized.

The network of Journalists’ Solidarity Centers is an initiative of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, implemented in collaboration with the International and European Federations of Journalists and UNESCO and with the support of the People of Japan. Our primary goal is to assist media professionals working in Ukraine during the war. The Centers are active in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Lviv, and Ivano-Frankivsk. The project is part of UNESCO’s broader efforts to support the Safety of Journalists and Freedom of Expression in Ukraine.

Contact the Zaporizhzhia JSC at 096 277 5352 (Nataliya Kuzmenko and Valentyna Manzhura, the coordinators of the Zaporizhzhia JSC). The Center’s address is 15 Sobornyi Avenue.
