During the discussion on the role of women in war journalism called Where Shots Are Heard and Stories Are Told: Women at War, the President of the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ), Maja Sever, spoke about her journey as a war correspondent in the Balkans, which began when she was 20.

The journalist, who covered hostilities in her own country, and later reported on the suffering of peaceful Ukrainians fleeing the hostilities, emphasized the importance of maintaining professional standards in wartime conditions.

“The most important thing is to uphold our code of ethics, be professional and tell the truth. Even if it is particularly difficult to maintain objectivity: when it comes to, for example, reports from Bucha,” the EFJ president emphasized.

Maja Sever paid particular attention to the importance of informing Western partners about events in Ukraine and thanked her Ukrainian colleagues for their selfless work in wartime conditions.
