On the morning of August 29, Zodiye Saliyeva, the mother of citizen journalist Seyran Saliyev, a prisoner of the Kremlin, was detained without reason by russian security forces after a search of her apartment in Bakhchysarai

Human rights activist Lutfiye Zudiyeva clarified that employees of the russian FSB visited Saliyeva‘s house. They planned to conduct an inspection of the home, but the court decision indicated the wrong address, reports the Crimean Solidarity non-governmental organization.

“We arrived at the FSB at 8 a.m., and I left that place at 2:45 p.m. They had a conversation with me. Looked at my contacts and with whom I communicate. I am 70 years old, of course, I have many acquaintances,” said Zodiye Saliyeva.

According to the report, FSB agents took a non-disclosure agreement from the activist and seized her mobile phone.

Before Zodiye Saliyeva was released by russian security forces, mothers of Crimean political prisoners and elders came to the FSB building in Simferopol to support her.

Saliyeva‘s daughter-in-law, human rights activist and journalist, Mumine Saliyeva, managed to get to the place of residence.

Citizen journalist Seyran Saliyev was detained by russian security forces in October 2017. He was accused of involvement in the activities of the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization banned in russia. In 2020, a russian court illegally sentenced Seyran Saliyev to 16 years in prison.

You can find out more about Seyran Saliyev‘s “case” in the publication on the website of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU).
