Since the start of 2024, the Zaporizhzhia Journalists’ Solidarity Center (JSC) of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) has employed a network of freelance correspondents abroad. Nine well-known Zaporizhzhia Region tele-radio and newspaper journalists who are now staying in European countries having the status of displaced people joined this creative community. Among them is Nataliya Marenko (Germany. Dresden). We offer another report of hers from the city of the event.

“Within the framework of the Forum of the Future, the UKRAINE IN EUROPA event took place in the heart of the capital of Saxony, on the square near the Frauenkirche.

Our Ukrainian housewives baked goodies and organized a Kuchen Bazaar, craftsmen made yellow and blue souvenirs, lacemakers wove bright napkins, and artists painted beautiful pictures. All these products were sold for a donation, and the funds were sent to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). By the way, among the decorations were the charms of my colleagues from the front-line city of Zaporizhzhia – journalists Alla Shamrai and Svitlana Kostiuk. The charms were made by them at night under shelling…

Ukrainian songs flowed like honey in the ears performed by the Volya folk choir, already known throughout Germany, under the direction of our compatriot, conductor Nataliya Moroz.

Most importantly, the participants of the patriotic action all together raised funds for a Mavic 3T drone for defenders from the operational unit of the National Guard of Ukraine, which works on the southern axis – Krynky, Oleshky, Hopry, and Kherson.

Call the Zaporizhzhia JSC at 096 277 5352 (Nataliya Kuzmenko and Valentyna Manzhura, the Zaporizhzhia JSC coordinators). The Center’s address is 152 Sobornyi Avenue.
