Today, Ambassador of the United States Bridget A. Brink visited the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories and met with its Head/Deputy Prime Minister, Iryna Vereshchuk.
As reported by the journalists of the information service of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) who were present at the site, Iryna Vereshchuk showed the guests the work of the Contact Center, which helps IDPs.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) helped equip the contact center with power generators, IT equipment, and furniture. In addition, USAID facilitated the training of 36 employees to improve the quality of service and support their stress resistance at work.
Many operators of the contact center are themselves displaced persons; therefore, they better understand the needs of those IDPs who apply for help to the hotline of the Ministry of Reintegration. Bridget A. Brink and Iryna Vereshchuk talked to such employees and asked them about settling into life in a new place, as well as about the problems that people call with most often.
Citizens can contact the Contact Center of the Ministry of Reintegration at 15-48.
The hotline provides IDPs with:
- psychological support;
- consultations on housing, shelters, medical, evacuation, and financial services;
- consultations on issues of prisoners of war, deportees, missing persons, and persons who died as a result of the full-scale invasion of Russia;
- consultations on the payment of state aid to IDPs;
- consultations on financial assistance of international organizations to war victims.
Hotline operators receive requests from citizens and forward them to relevant state institutions for further resolution of problematic issues.
Since its opening in June 2022, the contact center has responded to almost 857,000 inquiries.
