Press officer Viyacheslav Skoriak, the head of the public relations service of the 10th Army Corps, which performs combat missions in the south of Ukraine, has received, from his civilian colleagues, modern professional photo equipment for work on the front lines. This good cause is a joint initiative of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) and the Academy of the Ukrainian Press, said Sergiy Tomilenko, the President of the NUJU.

Helping the Armed Forces is a priority for the Union, which has more than once collected and donated funds for cars, walkie-talkies, and other equipment for Ukrainian soldiers. In November, journalists bought and sent an SUV for the Soledar press group, which works on the hottest Bakhmut Axis. By the way, this was advised to be done by a colleague – Illia Yevlash, who left television journalism to serve in the army and now heads the press service of the Ground Forces Command.

“After handing over the car, I discussed new requests with another press officer – Vlad Voloshyn, and he asked to support Viyacheslav Skoriak with equipment,” said Sergiy Tomilenko. “The 10th Army Corps was formed after the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Accordingly, the public relations service was created anew. So, compared to colleagues from other divisions, where the material base has been accumulating for years, the public relations service of this corps is worse equipped… Famous military correspondents Nataliya Nahorna and Yuliya Kiriyenko, when we talked in the parliament on the occasion of Radio and Television Workers’ Day, gave Viyacheslav Skoriak the best possible recommendations, which is extremely important to me. So, the camera ended up in really good hands!”

Viyacheslav Skoriak: “War causes terrible destruction in the country, and information war – no less terrible destruction in people’s heads.”

Not long ago, Viyacheslav Skoriak told the NUJU information service: “When we need to shoot, we get out of the situation in different ways: we borrow [the equipment] somewhere, we ask one of the guys to bring his equipment, a camera, we shoot with a phone…”. Now, the press officer has a modern camera that will help record the struggle of heroes on the front lines.

“I am happy to meet the authoritative press officer Viyacheslav Skoriak,” said the President of the NUJU. “We are glad that we can help in an important matter.”
