The winners of the 47th Ischia International Journalism Prize (Premio Ischia) were announced in Italy. Among this year’s winners is Ukrainska Pravda online publication, which won the European nomination. This award once again emphasizes the importance of the work of Ukrainian journalists on the international stage in the context of a full-scale war. This was reported on the Prize website.

The main award – the International Journalism Award – was received by the British publication The Guardian. At the same time, the jury awarded the European Prize to Ukrainska Pravda, noting the editorial team’s contribution to covering events in Ukraine.

Personal awards were also received by Italian colleagues. In particular, the title of “Journalist of the Year” was won by Stefania Battistini, and Franco Bragagna was awarded for information support of sports. The special prize in the ‘Satire’ category went to Federico Palmaroli (known under the pseudonym Osho), and a special mention from the jury went to the journalist of the lI Mattino publication Giuseppe Crimaldi.

“The editorial staff of Ukrainska Pravda became the laureate of the 47th Ischia International Journalism Prize – one of the most prestigious Italian awards, which recognizes outstanding achievements in Italian, European and international journalism,” notes Ukrainska Pravda.

The names of the winners were announced by the head of the prize, Giampiero Massolo, during a press conference held in Rome at the headquarters of the foreign press in Italy. The jury of the 47th edition included the heads of leading Italian media outlets, including the directors of TG1, Corriere della Sera, Repubblica, ANSA and Rai News 24.

After the announcement of the results, Giampiero Massolo, together with the new president of the foreign press Tricia Thomas and the secretary general of the Premio Ischia Foundation Stefano Polli, elaborated on the motivations behind the selection of the laureates, underlining the complexity and importance of the jury’s work this year.

The award ceremony will take place on July 11 in the town of Lacco Ameno on the island of Ischia. The event will be held under the patronage of the Campania region and with the support of a number of Italian cultural and financial institutions.

As earlier reported, the #WASHinWAR photo exhibition, a large-scale documentary project that captures the consequences of russia’s systematic attacks on Ukraine’s water infrastructure, has opened in Oslo, at the Nobel Peace Center.
