“It’s very convenient when you go from Kyiv and know that your colleagues will take care of your protection, provide reliable modern equipment, and with it a sense of support,” say the members of the 1+1 TV channel film crew, in particular, editors Nataliya Nahorna, Ella Bilostotska and cameraman Oleksandr Parakhonskyi. Recently, they filmed a story about the life of the front-line community in bulletproof vests and helmets provided to them by the Zaporizhzhia Journalists’ Solidarity Center (JSC) of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU).

The reports of our fellow TV journalists from the combat zone on the Zaporizhia Axis are watched with particular excitement by the local JSC, not only because they are true stories about the heroism of our soldiers in the fight against the racist invaders, about life in the front-line territories. Additionally, in many cases, journalists prepare these stories in reliable protective equipment that they receive from the JSC.

Incidentally, we would like to note that every month, the Zaporizhzhia JSC provides protective equipment to 10-12 journalists who travel to prepare materials in front-line territories or to places of arrival in residential areas of the city and region.

The network of Journalists’ Solidarity Centers is an initiative of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, implemented in collaboration with the International and European Federations of Journalists and UNESCO and with the support of the People of Japan. Our primary goal is to assist media professionals working in Ukraine during the war. The Centers are active in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Lviv, and Ivano-Frankivsk. The project is part of UNESCO’s broader efforts to support the Safety of Journalists and Freedom of Expression in Ukraine.

Call the Zaporizhzhia JSC at 096 277 5352 (Nataliya Kuzmenko and Valentyna Manzhura, the coordinators of the Zaporizhzhia JSC). The Center’s address is 15 Sobornyi Avenue.
