Frontline Defenders representative Veronika Lapina emphasized their vital role in documenting the truth under occupation. Diplomat Oksana Diakun highlighted the harsh conditions for over 220 political prisoners, including 137 Crimean Tatars.
Crimean politician Nariman Celal shared personal anecdotes about citizen journalism under occupation and stressed its ongoing importance despite severe repression. Olha Skrypnyk called for international efforts to free detained journalists. The event underscored the need for global support to address human rights violations in Crimea.
The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) urged continuous attention to the plight of captive journalists and called for efforts to secure their release.
