Webinar Announcement: “Peculiarities of Journalists’ Labor Rights in Wartime”

The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine and the network of Journalists’ Solidarity Centers invite to participate in the upcoming webinar titled “Peculiarities of Journalists’ Labor Rights in Wartime.”

This webinar will cover essential topics for journalists, freelancers, media workers, and media management, including:

  1. Changes to labor legislation during martial law
  2. Latest court practices and emerging trends
  3. How journalists can protect their labor rights
  4. Strategies for securing employment contracts with editorial offices
  5. Key differences between employment contracts and civil law contracts, and the associated risks for journalists

Speakers:

  • Mykhailo Kocherov – Doctor of Juridical Sciences, lawyer and Managing Partner of IBC Legal Services;
  • Danil Serbin – assistant at the legal hotline of the Journalists’ Solidarity Centers network and lawyer of IBC Legal Services.

The network of Journalists’ Solidarity Centers is an initiative of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, implemented in collaboration with the International and European Federations of Journalists, with support from UNESCO and the People of Japan. Our primary goal is to assist media professionals working in Ukraine during the war. The Centers are active in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Lviv, and Ivano-Frankivsk.

It contributes to peace and security by promoting international cooperation in education, sciences, culture, communication and information.
