A 27-year-old Ukrainian journalist, who died in russian captivity, will receive international recognition for her courage in defending human rights.

The Washington OXI Day Foundation announces that it will posthumously honor Victoria Roshchina at this year’s OXI Courage Awards for her exceptional courage in confronting russian war crimes in Ukraine.

The OXI Courage Awards honor individuals who demonstrate courage in defending human rights and democracy. The award is named after the Greek “No” (OXI) to the Nazis in 1940, when Greece refused to surrender to authoritarianism.

The awards ceremony will be held on January 27.
