Yevhen Osiievskyi, a scientist, media person, and the author of articles in the popular science projects Spilne and Kunsht, was killed in a battle near Bakhmut on May 22.

This was reported by his relatives and friends.

A native of the city of Kropyvnytskyi, Yevhen received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the Faculty of History, Business Education, and Law at the Volodymyr Vynnychenko Central Ukrainian State University, then studied social anthropology at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, wrote a dissertation and a scientific monograph.

“Yevhen was one of my best students,” Eduard Kliuenko, his academic supervisor at the Central Ukrainian State University, told NSJU. “An excellent student, an intellectual with non-standard thinking. And at the same time – very cheerful, friendly, a favorite of both students and teachers… I was lucky to be his teacher…”

“One of the closest people of mine has been killed, a faithful friend and the best person for discussions about movies, comics, and books in general… No words to express what emptiness there is in my heart now,” Yevhen‘s friend Yaroslav Kovalchuk wrote on a social network.

“RIP, Yevhen. This world will miss your optimism and wit. It hurts a lot from this crazy injustice,” wrote his friend Nadiya Ushchapivska.

Yevhen will be buried in Kropyvnytskyi. He is survived by his mother, whom he supported with all his might.

The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) mourns the death of Yevhen Osiievskyi and expresses deep condolences to his relatives and friends.
