Sergiy Tomilenko, the President of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), participated in the 53rd rally held in the capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, in support of Ukraine at the initiative of the famous Lithuanian actor and public figure Arkadijus Vinokuras. He addressed the friends of Ukraine in Lithuania by phone, according to his Lithuanian colleague and Lithuanian Journalists Union Chairman, Dainius Radzevičius.

The rally, held on the eve of World Press Freedom Day, was dedicated to supporting Ukrainian journalists and media workers.

“We greatly appreciate your support! You are always in our hearts and souls,” said Sergiy Tomilenko, addressing Lithuanian friends. “The eve of World Press Freedom Day is an opportunity to talk about the value of freedom of speech. Russia is responsible for mass murders, including journalists and media workers… We do and will remember every single name. We honor the memory of Oleksandra Kuvshynova, Maks Levin, Brent Renaud, Pierre Zakrzewski, and other worthy colleagues who died defending our right to know the truth.”

Sergiy Tomilenko emphasized that Russia hunts journalists, using them as targets, and there is a lot of evidence of enemy attacks on cars with the inscription PRESS. That is done because journalists tell the truth about the crimes of the Russian military and prevent people in the occupied territories and around the world from being immersed in a bubble of toxic Russian propaganda. That is why the support of journalists is so important.

“If you and I do not get tired of and despair because of the war, this is the key to the future and, surely, to the imminent victory of Ukraine and the free world,” stressed Sergiy Tomilenko.
