Participants in the Partnership for Victory project gathered at the Ivano-Frankivsk Journalists’ Solidarity Center (JSC) to discuss further steps of cooperation in supporting Ukrainian media workers. The meeting was attended by employees of the Center, representatives of the Department of Information of the Ivano-Frankivsk Archdiocese of the UGCC, and volunteers of the Italian association Anteas Alessandria. Carpathian journalists also joined the conversation: freelancer Sabina Ruzhytska and own correspondent of the Espreso TV channel, head of Ivano-Frankivsk humanitarian center Community of SANT’EGIDIO, Ivan Haruk.

JSC coordinator Viktoriya Plakhta thanked partners for helping journalists and their families. In particular, she noted that in the difficult conditions in which the whole of Ukraine is currently living, only joint efforts can overcome difficulties and solve problematic issues. She also expressed her gratitude personally to the representative of Anteas Alessandria,” Luciano Cartolano, for his fruitful cooperation and solidarity, and also, in his person, to all the volunteers of the association for always responding to requests for help for media persons.

This time, Italian volunteers brought power banks, laptops, flashlights, air mattresses, sports equipment, and food products for the needs of journalists. Humanitarian aid will be provided to displaced media workers who have been temporarily living in the Ivano-Frankivsk Region since the beginning of the war, as well as colleagues from the Kherson, Chernihiv, Rivne, and Volyn Regions subordinate to the Center.

Luciano Cartolano noted that together with his colleagues, they are ready to continue helping Ukrainians, in particular, journalists.

“During the war in Ukraine, this is not the first time we have come with humanitarian aid. We see what a difficult time it is now for all Ukrainians. Our volunteer organization is ready to provide support to those who need it,” Luciano Cartolano emphasized.

During the meeting, the coordinator of the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC, Viktoriya Plakhta, noted that humanitarian aid through Nova Poshta will be directed to colleagues in the subordinate regions and IDP media workers living in the geographical region of Prykarpattia.

The co-coordinator of the project, the head of the Department of Information of the Ivano-Frankivsk Archdiocese of the UGCC, Father Ivan Stefurak, expressed his gratitude to the partners for their initiative and mutual support.

As earlier reported, thanks to the Partnership for Victory project, five seriously ill children from Ukraine were sent for free treatment to leading clinics in Italy. So, last year on October 5, the first child, born in 2009, arrived from the Ivano-Frankivsk Region for treatment at the Turin Pediatric Hospital “Regina Margherita” together with his mother. Then, the Italian volunteer organization Anteas announced its readiness to take four children for treatment. And in March of this year, another sick child went to Italy for treatment.

“The Ivano-Frankivsk JSC will continue to maintain close contact with media colleagues, study their needs, and, together with partners, provide assistance. Currently, it is very important for all of us to stick together because together, we are a force,” emphasized Viktoriya Plakhta.
