As reported by the Permanent Representation of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (ARC), the health condition of the Crimean human rights defender and citizen journalist, Iryna Danylovych, who was illegally convicted by russia, continues to deteriorate.

During her imprisonment, Danylovych started having hearing problems (now the woman can’t hear completely in her left ear); she experienced at least one micro-stroke and suffers from vertigo. The representative office issued a special statement on this matter.

“Thanks to the efforts of the family, lawyers, and human rights defenders, Iryna was provided with minimal treatment, but they have not yet been able to conduct a full examination. “Today, the drugs that Iryna receives do not help with constant pain, but only slow down the negative processes a little and relieve some symptoms,” the representative office reports. Iryna Danylovych needs urgent, highly qualified treatment, without which she may not survive.

“In addition, Iryna is in a depressed state due to serious health problems and the recent death of her father, to whom she could not say goodbye and could not attend his funeral,” the representative said.

The agency called for the immediate release of citizen journalist Iryna Danylovych and also called on the international community to react to russia’s actions and increase pressure on it to release all political prisoners.

The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), from the very beginning of the prosecution of Iryna Danylovych, declares her innocence and the falsification of her case and demands the immediate release of the convict. Journalism is not a crime!

As earlier reported, in 2022, Iryna Danylovych was kidnapped by FSB officers. Later, she was accused of possessing an explosive substance. For a long time in the pre-trial detention center, she was not provided with medical care to cure her acute otitis. As a result, the activist lost hearing in one ear, but she never received treatment. Last August, after arriving to serve her sentence in the colony, Iryna Danylovych turned to the infirmary due to pain in her ears and head, but in response, the medic Lidia Morozova said that the pain would go away on its own when Iryna Danylovych finally became deaf. On August 1, 2024, the activist’s father, Bronislav Danylovych, passed away.
