The film crew of the documentary filmmaker from the United States, Andrew Cohen, received protective equipment for a trip to one of the communities of the currently front-line Dnipropetrovsk Region at the Dnipro Journalists’ Solidarity Center (JSC) of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU).

Fixer Diana Khalilova, who worked with the team, contacted the Center with a request for protective kits – bulletproof vests with the inscription PRESS, helmets, and individual first-aid kits – everything that might be needed while working on the route.

“We planned to leave together with the evacuation crew of the Hospitallers battalion, so we took care of protection for each member of the team. The Dnipro JSC helped us with this. We agreed on the kits very conveniently and quickly. On the way east, we stopped by the Center’s office and picked up the equipment,” said Diana Khalilova. “Infinite gratitude to colleagues for such important work!”

As previously reported, the Dnipro JSC of the Ukrainian Union of Journalists, like the entire Network of Centers, provides journalists with high-quality protective equipment for temporary use – a bulletproof vest with a helmet branded with the inscription PRESS, a tactical first aid kit. Rental is free, but must be with the accreditation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The network of Journalists’ Solidarity Centers is an initiative of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, implemented in collaboration with the International and European Federations of Journalists and UNESCO, and with the support of the People of Japan. Our primary goal is to assist media professionals working in Ukraine during the war. The Centers are active in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Lviv, and Ivano-Frankivsk. The project is part of UNESCO’s broader efforts to support the Safety of Journalists and Freedom of Expression in Ukraine.

Contact the Dnipro JSC at 050 919 8479 (Nataliya Nazarova, the coordinator of the Dnipro JSC).
