The large family of Yaroslava Popiyuk-Maksymiyuk, a media woman from the remote mountain settlement of the Verkhovyna District – the village of Holovy, received a package with sweets, educational games, and soft toys from the Ivano-Frankivsk Journalists’ Solidarity Center (JSC) of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU). Her three young children – Yevhen, Marichka, and Vasyl – were most happy about such a surprise.

“Mom has brought a bag full of joy from work to the children. And there would be no such comfort if it were not for our fairies – the coordinator of the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC, the executive secretary of the NUJU‘s regional organization Viktoriya Plakhta and the head of the NUJU district organization Lesia Klym. Yevhen, Marichka, Vasyl, and their mother “thank you very much” for educational games, sweets, and toys, Yaroslava Popiyuk-Maksymiyuk wrote on her Facebook page.

Yaroslava Popiyuk-Maksymiyuk is a graduate of the Faculty of Journalism of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, in journalism for almost 20 years. She works in the newsroom of the Verkhovynski Visti newspaper. She has been a member of the NUJU since 2011. Her dedication to her profession is an example for colleagues and future journalists. Despite the fact that the media woman travels three dozen kilometers every day to get to her newsroom, she remains in the profession.

“Our Journalists’ Solidarity Center, in cooperation with partners and volunteers, successfully implements a number of projects aimed at multifaceted assistance to media workers. In particular, assistance for the large family of our colleague Yaroslava Popiyuk-Maksymiyuk was provided by the Ukrainian Federation of Food Banks, the Community of Sant’Egidio, and Italian volunteers. We received educational games from the Odesa regional organization of the NUJU with the assistance of the Odesa company Strateh. Gratitude to everyone who cooperates with the Center and responds to requests for help,” said Center coordinator Viktoriya Plakhta.

Call the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC at 066 677 0726 (Viktoriya Plakhta, the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC coordinator). The Center’s address is 25 Sichovykh Striltsiv Street.
