Almost 800 complaints received by the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) hotline have been forwarded to the leadership of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine. Most appeals are about violations of the labor rights of postal workers because, since July, there has been a mass redundancy among mail carriers in all regions.

In hundreds of calls to the hotline from newspaper editors and users of Ukrposhta services, there are complaints about the lack of access to postal services. People complain that Ukrposhta’s mobile teams refuse to provide address delivery, and all letters and newspapers are simply dropped off either at a store or at the village council, where no one is responsible for keeping correspondence.

The NUJU hopes that these complaints will be taken into account by the Federation during the consideration of draft regulations initiated by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Ukrposhta. In particular, the postal operator is currently lobbying for the cancellation of the current state regulation of tariffs for subscription and delivery of the press.

“Today, when the enemy is trying to plant its propaganda and distort information, we must protect our information space and the printed word,” emphasizes NUJU President Sergiy Tomilenko, addressing the head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine, Hryhorii Osovyi.
