Dylan Collins, a 35-year-old American video journalist working for the AFP agency, was injured in a drone attack on Monday while reporting on the work of Ukrainian artillerymen near Bakhmut.

This follows from a statement by AFP, the European Pravda online media outlet reports

As a result of the attack in the forest strip near Bakhmut, Collins suffered numerous shrapnel wounds. The man was evacuated to the nearest hospital and given first aid.

Doctors say the AFP journalist’s health is not in danger: he is conscious and in touch with his colleagues.

“We are investigating all the circumstances of the incident. Our thoughts are with Dylan and his loved ones,” AFP Regional Director Europe Christine Buhagiar said.

Dylan Collins has been with the AFP as a video coordinator in Lebanon and Syria since 2018, but since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 has been regularly on assignment in Ukraine.

The journalist has extensive experience working in conflict zones in the Middle East: in 2020, he covered the war in Nagorno-Karabakh.
