In the occupied Melitopol, occupiers published a fake version of the popular 100-year-old district newspaper, Novyi Den, copying its logo, colors, design, and layout.

However, Novyi Den announced its closure back in March 2022, so the fake has nothing to do with the actual publication.

“It was with Novyi Den that my creative professional career began. The cursed ruscists got to it too. Do not give in to provocations! Novyi Den, as well as the city of Melitopol, have always belonged to Ukraine!” says journalist Yuliya Dovhopolova.

The abovementioned situation is not the first enemy attempt to steal a local media brand to create their fakes. A year ago, they printed two issues of the MV newspaper. Later, they made a replica of the regional newspaper Zaporizka Pravda, the genuine version of which turned 107 years old this year. When the matter did not go well, the Russians started their own project Zaporizkii Visnyk, which was simply ignored by the local residents. Besides, they published fake newspapers Nashe Slovo (Volnovakha), Zoria (Lyman), Naddniprianska Pravda (Kherson), and Pryazovskyi Robochii (Mariupol)…
