Tetiana Tikhonova, a correspondent for the Donetsk regional publication Znamia Industrii, whose newsroom is located in Kostiantynivka, received body armor and a helmet from the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU).
“It is 20 kilometers from Bakhmut. Since February 24, 2022, we have not printed the newspaper founded in 1930. Currently, we’re focusing on our website and social media networks. Meanwhile, the SpivDiya humanitarian hub is working at the newsroom,” said in a comment to the NUJU, the editor-in-chief of the publication Hennadii Chubenko. “The three of us in the publication handle everything: in addition to me, journalist Tetiana Tykhonova (who remains in the town), and an advertising manager. Since Tetiana is in Kostiantynivka in dangerous conditions, we asked the NUJU to provide personal protective equipment. Such means were provided, and we are very grateful to the Union and its international partners.”
According to Hennadii Chubenko, the articles that Tetiana Tykhonova writes directly in Kostiantynivka are very popular among readers. The town is shelled no less than once a week: the enemy hits high-rise buildings and the private sector there. People are killed. There is constant thunder of explosions reaching from Bakhmut.
Znamia Industrii employees practically work on a volunteer basis: advertising income is insufficient. Therefore, any help and support from Ukrainian and foreign benefactors in the publication is always welcome.
