“The help is invaluable and very timely,” Zmiyivskyi Kuriyer editor-in-chief on NUJU’s support

The Zmiyivskyi Kuriyer newspaper employees (Kharkiv Region) were at risk of going without a salary in March.

Oleksandr Sumets, the publication’s editor-in-chief, wrote about this in a letter to the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU).

So, on behalf of the entire team, he thanked the NUJU and the Gazeta Wyborcza Foundation for the financial assistance provided within the framework of the Ukrainian Media Fund (UMF) project.

“It so happened that this very month, the newspaper’s staff was left without advance payment and, if not for your help, without a salary. The reason was that the validity of key contracts on the placement of advertising and informational materials had ended, and the conclusion of new ones was delayed, given the situation in the country. The funds received from subscribers and small advertisers were used in full for printing the newspaper; the amount was insufficient for anything else. Therefore, the help is invaluable and very timely,” Oleksandr Sumets wrote.
