Ukrainian journalist Zhanna Chuchman, who has been living in Argentina for almost 20 years, has visited the central office of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU).

She got her first professional experience in the Cherkasy-based newspaper Nova Doba, which Sergiy Tomilenko, the incumbent President of the NUJU, then headed.

Since the beginning of the large-scale invasion, Zhanna has been actively working with local journalists – giving them comments, translating, and organizing events so that the local population knows the truth about the war in Ukraine. In addition, she is an avid volunteer.

“As long as Argentina is a pro-Russian country,” says Zhanna continues. “It was very difficult to export humanitarian aid. I went on television and radio and said: we need a plane. I found the plane: a patron helped.”

The patron was Enrique Piñeyro. Behind the yoke of his Boeing, he brought food and medicine for Ukrainians and took people away from the war to safer places.

According to Zhanna, Kremlin propagandists work in Latin America for all 200%. In order to strengthen pro-Ukrainian narratives, she plans to organize a pan-Ukrainian press tour for Argentinean media.
