As a result of another missile attack by the russian army on Kryvyi Rih, the apartment of a Kryvyi Rih media worker / cameraman at the Rudana TV channel / member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), Maksym Ponomariov, was damaged again.
On the evening of January 8, the enemy hit residential areas of the city with two Iskander missiles. According to official information, 23 people were injured. As of January 13, unfortunately, two people were killed. Dozens of high-rise buildings, business facilities, and cars were damaged.
One of the missiles hit a high-rise building, which was already half-destroyed after the attack in November 2024. The other hit the house opposite, next to the one where Maksym Ponomariov lives with his family. The blast wave in the cameraman’s apartment knocked out the balcony block and windows in the common room and in the children’s room. At the time of the impact, my wife and one-year-old son were at home.
“I was returning from work, I was already near my house, I went to the market to buy groceries,” the man recalls. “I heard the message from the State Emergency Situations Service (SESS) about the danger, and literally in a minute, an explosion! One, a few seconds later – a second, much more powerful. I turn my head and see a huge wall of flames right on the roofs of the houses, where our house is. It’s terrifying! I knew that my wife and little son were at home. At that moment, it seems like my heart stopped…”
He says that there was no contact with his family. In a state of shock, he ran to his own house. In the yard, a high-rise building is burning, a column of smoke, dust, and people’s screams… “These screams are still in my head… It’s impossible to forget,” says Maksym.
