Another meeting with Italian partners took place at the Ivano-Frankivsk Journalists’ Solidarity Center (JSC) of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU). The President of the Italian volunteer association, Anteas Alessandria, Luciano Cartolano, together with his colleagues, once again visited the JSC as part of a working trip to Ukraine. The meeting became an important milestone in almost four years of fruitful cooperation, which testifies to the effectiveness of international cooperation in supporting Ukrainian media workers during a full-scale war.

During the meeting, further support for Ukrainian journalists was discussed, in particular, media workers sponsored by the JSC in frontline and border regions, who work in difficult conditions. The Italian volunteers assured their readiness, if necessary, to provide all kinds of support to Ukrainian journalists in the profession, helping them carry out their important mission.

This time, at the request of media workers from the frontline Chernihiv and the Kherson Regions, taken care of by JSC, the Italian partners handed over flashlights to the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC. They are which are necessary for the work of media workers in conditions of lack of electricity supply, in particular in regions where power outages regularly occur. This gesture of support is a vivid example of how important even the smallest, but necessary things are for the work of journalists in extremely difficult war conditions.

“We are grateful to you personally, Luciano, as well as to your colleagues, for the cooperation, for the help and support that the volunteer association Anteas Alessandria has been providing to Ukrainian media workers for the fourth year in a row. Your unwavering solidarity is a reliable support for journalists on the path to restoring peace and truth.

“With joint efforts, we continue to work for the benefit of freedom of speech and the preservation of the professional values of Ukrainian media professionals,” Viktoriya Plakhta, the coordinator of the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC of the NUJU, said during the meeting with words of gratitude to the Italian partners.

Our primary goal is to assist media professionals working in Ukraine during the war. The Centers are active in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Lviv, and Ivano-Frankivsk. The project is part of UNESCO’s broader efforts to support the Safety of Journalists and Freedom of Expression in Ukraine.
