Cyber specialists of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) are recording attempts by Russian special services to obtain intelligence information in Ukraine under the guise of foreign media representatives.

This is reported by the website of the SSU.

The enemy uses specialized Internet platforms and professional online forums of Ukrainian journalists to collect classified information. On these resources, the occupiers allegedly post information requests from well-known foreign mass media employees.

Cyber specialists of the SSU explain that in their messages, Russian spies appeal to media professionals and other members of specialized groups to obtain materials for the preparation of ‘plots’ or ‘documentaries’ about the war in Ukraine. The enemy is primarily interested in information about the results of Russian missile attacks on Ukrainian cities, including the locations hit by their missiles and the consequences. In the case of providing relevant media files or text messages, those responsible for such ‘ads’ promise a ‘bonus.’ The information obtained this way is necessary for the aggressor to correct repeated air attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure facilities.

Currently, the SSU is warning the public about such attempts by hostile intelligence and subversive activities and is conducting comprehensive measures to bring those involved to justice. In addition, the SSU appeals to citizens to be vigilant and immediately notify law enforcement officers of the facts of suspicious ‘requests’ from unidentified subscribers.

Measures to identify and neutralize threats of subversive activities of the Russian special services were carried out by the SSU of the Lviv Region.
