As reported by the Vest publication, the heart of a young woman who became a victim of a hostile Shahed drone attack on Pryluky has stopped in Germany. This is a journalist from Pryluky in the Chernihiv Region, Yanina Shkarlat. Doctors in Germany fought for her life to the last, but the injuries turned out to be incompatible with life.

According to Ukrainian media, Yana Shkarlat received 65% burns on her body during the bombing of Pryluky as a result of a russian attack on the city on April 7. The 31-year-old journalist was tried to be saved in medical facilities in Chernihiv and Vinnytsia, and then she was arranged for treatment in Germany. The media followed the course of the treatment. Journalists reported a few days ago that “journalist’s mother got in touch for a few minutes with the words: “Yana is stable, but her state is grave…”. And then came the tragic news.

As the Chernihiv regional police reported, on the morning of April 7, russian troops attacked Pryluky with three strike drones. One of them hit the second floor of the city council building, where a meeting with the military was taking place, causing a fire. In total, 15 people sought medical help, including one minor. As the Chernihiv Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine reported on its Facebook page, five people were hospitalized with injuries, and another person with an acute stress reaction.

The all-Ukrainian independent media space Sivershchyna in an editorial note signed by editor-in-chief Vasyl Chepurny raises the question of “the responsibility of the mayor of the city, Olha Popenko, who publicly (and in advance) posted information about the meeting with the military. After all, that’s where the russian drone flew in…”

The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) expresses its sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased journalist.
