The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) calls on the authorities to support all types of media consumed by Ukrainians during the war, not just the telethon.

This was emphasized by the President of the NUJU, Sergiy Tomilenko, on the Espreso TV channel.

According to NUJU experts, a third of newsrooms in Ukraine have ceased to exist, and most regional and local media are barely surviving, so they need support more than ever.

“The media continue to fulfill their great mission in times of war – it is resistance to enemy propaganda, informing about important events, inspiring Ukrainians, and highlighting the exploits of our heroes. But at the moment it is in the format of huge informational volunteering,” he explained.

According to Sergiy Tomilenko, it is important to support worthy journalists who cover the war, as well as front-line and near-front-line media.

In addition, it is worth conducting a public discussion about the standards of news coverage and giving the audience the opportunity to access alternative sources of information.
