At the request of the newspaper’s team, the President of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), Sergiy Tomilenko, handed over the Starlink satellite internet platform to Obrii Iziumshchyny, which is published in the de-occupied territory of the Kharkiv Region.

The equipment was handed over during the working trip of the Union’s President to the region.

The city of Izium was under occupation for six months. The Obrii Iziumshchyny’s newsroom was destroyed by Russian rocket attacks.

This assistance was made possible thanks to the cooperation between the NUJU and the Italian Union of Journalists in the city of Milan, the Ukrainska Dusha [Ukrainian Soul] charity fund, and the Italian volunteer movement Anteas.

According to Obrii Iziumshchyny’s editor-in-chief, Kostiantyn Hryhorenko, the help will make his newsroom more resistant to possible communication difficulties. It will allow further publishing of the newspaper even in extreme conditions. In addition, this front-line newsroom received a generator from the NUJU and the UNESCO headquarters in the winter.
