The Ukrainian media community has lost a talented colleague, the director of the editing of the project Real History, a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleh Sarel.

As his colleagues told the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), the media worker was killed in mortar shelling near Vodiane in the Volnovakha District of the Donetsk Region on August 27. However, it was possible to bury the Hero only a few months later…

Oleh grew up in Primorsk, a city near Berdiansk, which is currently under occupation. He joined Akim Halimov’s project Real History two years ago.

Six months ago, Oleh Sarel joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade.

Oleh is survived by his 10-year-old son Ivan and his wife Kateryna.

The NUJU expresses its sincere condolences to the family and colleagues of Oleh Sarel. May the memory of the Hero of Ukraine be bright…
