Innovations of the Law On Media, which will come into force in April, were covered by media lawyer and lawyer Serhii Voronskyi during a meeting with local mass media representatives at the Dnipro Journalists’ Solidarity Center of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU).
The expert drew the attention of those present to several points:
▪️ the certificate of the printed edition becomes invalid either from the moment of registration in the National Council or one year after the adoption of the law;
▪️ it is not necessary to register the newspaper and the website separately if the company owns them;
▪️ the editors are given half a year to bring the ownership structure in line with the new requirements, so it is necessary to check the participants, if necessary, think of ways to legalize offshore companies;
▪️ it is necessary to monitor the adoption by the National Council and the entry into force of the regulations that will establish the registration of all media;
▪️ a number of laws (on the press, television, and radio broadcasting, information agencies, the National Council, etc.) lose their relevance with the introduction of the new law On Media.
