Horodnia Town Mayor Andrii Bohdan said this during a working meeting with President of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), Sergiy Tomilenko, and local media of the Chernihiv Region.

According to him, only newspapers can now convey accurate information to those living in these territories.

Svitlana Tomash, the editor-in-chief of the Novyny Horodnianshchyny newspaper, noted that residents first trust information from the local newspaper; therefore, there is no alternative to print media today. She thanked the Union for its help both during the occupation and after liberation.

Local media editors emphasized that the paper cost for a newspaper is constantly increasing. Therefore, if the state does not help, it will cause mass closures of publications.

Sergiy Tomilenko emphasized that rescued newspapers mean dozens of experienced journalists who will continue to work and support their families. The NUJU President promised to support the media in the search for funding.
