UNIAN journalist Dmytro Khyliuk, who was released from russian captivity on August 24 after more than three and a half years of captivity, is currently undergoing a hospital examination and needs support for his recovery. Mykhailo Hannytskyi, the editor-in-chief of UNIAN, calls on the journalistic community to provide his colleague with all possible assistance.
“He is fine. As far as possible,” Mykhailo Hannytskyi reports on Dmytro Khyliuk’s condition. He has quit smoking and is currently undergoing a comprehensive medical examination in the hospital, where he will have several more days of tests and consultations with specialists. More than 1,270 days in russian captivity – first in Dymer, then in the Bryansk pre-trial detention center and the Vladimir Colony – have not passed without a trace for the journalist’s health.
So far, the colleague has been unable to communicate with everyone who wants to support him.
“Money is never superfluous, if you have the opportunity and desire to support,” notes the UNIAN editor-in-chief. For those who want to help the journalist in his recovery, Mykhailo Hannytskyi provided the details.
The funds can be transferred via Monobank:

The funds collected will help Dmytro not only with medical expenses during the current examination, but also with further rehabilitation.
The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) will also provide support to Dmytro Khyliuk in the recovery process.
Mykhailo Hannytskyi thanks everyone who waited, supported, and prayed for Dmytro’s return.
As earlier reported, the journalist was kidnapped by russian occupiers on March 3, 2022, near his house in the village of Kozarovychi in the Kyiv Region. He was released on August 24, 2025, as part of the 68th prisoner exchange mediated by the UAE.
Every hryvnia of aid is a step towards the recovery of our colleague. Journalist solidarity is manifested in concrete actions of support for those who suffered for freedom of speech.
