A letter from the Ukrainian journalist and public figure from the Kherson Region, Serhii Tsyhipa, who was illegally captured and convicted by the russian occupation authorities, has been received by his wife, Olena.

“He arrived at his destination – Skopin, Ryazan Oblast. He also sends his regards to everyone who cares about his fate,” Olena Tsyhipa told the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU).

On March 12, 2022, after the occupation of the Kherson Region, the journalist from Nova Kakhovka, Serhii Tsyhipa, posted information about events in the region on his Facebook page. After the journalist was kidnapped in March 2022, the family did not know his whereabouts for a long time, and only in October did they learn that Serhii was under russian investigation in Crimea. On October 6, 2023, he was sentenced to 13 years in prison on charges of espionage by the decision of the occupying Simferopol “court.” On February 14, 2024, the “court of appeal” upheld that sentence.

On April 8, 2024, Serhii Tsyhipa was sent to the place of imprisonment.
