Inna Varvaruk, the provisional head of the Department of Journalism, Advertising, and Public Relations of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, has addressed the Ivano-Frankivsk Journalists’ Solidarity Center (JSC) of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) with a proposal to provide internships for student journalists of the King Danylo University on the basis of the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC.

Bilateral cooperation in the context of the JSC‘s main activities was discussed during a working meeting in the co-working space of the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC, where the Center‘s coordinator Viktoriya Plakhta discussed the details of cooperation with Inna Varvaruk.

Viktoriya Plakhta, in particular, noted that the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC has become a good professional platform not only for media representatives but also for those who are taking their first steps in journalism. Thematic training sessions, master classes, student marathons, and meetings with experienced journalists are the main directions of cooperation with future media professionals. In addition, there is also a good opportunity to work in the Center‘s co-working space.

“The priority direction of our work is support and comprehensive assistance to media specialists in the profession. These are internally displaced persons, local journalists, and colleagues from abroad. However, we understand what a difficult time for the entire country – the period of martial law – our student journalists had to study. That is why our cooperation with specialized departments of Ivano-Frankivsk institutions of higher education is fruitful and, most importantly, necessary,” Viktoriya Plakhta emphasized during the conversation.

She also noted that more than ten internally displaced students are currently studying at Prykarpattia universities.

During the conversation, Inna Varvaruk shared her plans, in particular, to increase the level of practical training of future journalists, including internships for journalist students of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences on the basis of the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC. It was also about the further development of cooperation, holding joint events both at the Center and at the University.

Call the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC at 066 677 0726 (Viktoriya Plakhta, the Ivano-Frankivsk JSC coordinator). The Center’s address is 25 Sichovykh Striltsiv Street.
