The russian-controlled Kyivskyi District Court of Simferopol (Crimea) has arrested Rustem Osmanov, a citizen journalist of Crimean Solidarity, a former employee of the ATR TV channel, until May 4, Crimean Solidarity reports.

He will be kept in a remand prison. The court’s meeting was held in a closed format. At the time of preparation of this material, the trials are ongoing. In particular, the case of Crimean Solidarity activist Mustafa Abduramanov, who was detained on Tuesday after searches in Bakhchisarai, was under consideration.

On the morning of March 5, a wave of mass searches took place in the homes of Crimean Tatars in Crimea. In Bakhchisarai, investigative actions were conducted against activists of Crimean Solidarity, and in Dzhankoi District – against religious figures. In total, searches took place in the houses of ten Crimean Tatars.

After the searches, the FSB detained at least five people, including former imam Remzi Kurtnezirov. He is a disabled person of the second group.

Russian security forces accused all Crimean Tatars detained on March 5 of participating in a terrorist organization.

The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) expresses its support for the Crimean Solidarity movement. It demands the release of Rustem Osmanov from prison. The NUJU informs the European and International Federations of Journalists about the incident with the detention of a citizen journalist.

P.S.: After the publication of this post, the Crimean Solidarity movement announced the arrest for two months of another citizen journalist – streamer Aziz Azizov.
