At the Department of Journalism of the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, within the Internet Journalism course, students met with the editor-in-chief of the 6262.com.ua and 0372.ua sites Viktoriya Poverzhuk.
During communication with an experienced journalist, students learned more about how work is organized in this online publication, as well as where to look for topics and formats, how many views the average article on the site receives, why create podcasts, how the publication works with social networks to promote content and attracts a new target audience.
Viktoriya Poverzhuk moved to Chernivtsi with the entire editorial staff at the beginning of the full-scale war.
“I lived in Sloviyansk for more than 20 years, although I was born in the city of Makiyivka, Donetsk Region, and studied in Kramatorsk. She mastered the profession of programmer at the machine-building academy but never worked in the specialty for a single day. I started doing journalism while still at the academy,” says Viktoriya.
In the new place, the journalists from Sloviyansk adapted quite quickly because there was no time for a long deployment. The site continued to work thanks to the skillful organization of the work of journalists and the head of the company, Valerii Harmash.
Almost from the very beginning of their stay in Chernivtsi, the displaced editorial office established trusting cooperation with the local Journalists’ Solidarity Center (JSC) of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), which just started work in April 2022. Thanks to this, resettled journalists received financial and technical support.
Now, the journalists and management of the media company, who managed to establish high-quality work of online media in the shortest possible time, are transferring their experience to local journalists and students of the Department of Journalism.
Call the Chernivtsi JSC at 068 286 3706 (Volodymyr Bober, the Chernivtsi JSC coordinator). The Center’s address is 96 Nezalezhnosti Avenue.
