A workshop on international humanitarian law to be held in Kharkiv on September 28-29

The international organization Geneva Call invites media representatives to a workshop on international humanitarian law (IHL), which will be held as part of the International Legal Forum in Kharkiv on September 28-29.

Participants at the event will be able to:

  • learn about the basics of IHL;
  • discuss the challenges they face in their work during times of armed conflict;
  • familiarize themselves with the topic of documenting war crimes and how to cover this topic correctly.

Ukrainian lawyer specializing in international humanitarian law (IHL), international criminal law (ICL), international human rights law (IHRL), and transitional justice. She is the head of the Research Center for Transitional Justice (RCTJ) and an associate professor of the Department of International Law at the Yaroslav the Wise National Law University. She has 20 years of experience in teaching courses on international law, IHL, ICL, and transitional justice.

Prior to that, he worked as an Advisor to Geneva Call in Ukraine: he advised on issues of IHL, international, national law and politics, conducted training sessions on IHL for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (2022-2023); Adviser and lawyer of international arbitration and dispute resolution practices Marchenko Danevych (Ulysses), ENGARDE, Vasyl Kisil and Partners (2017-2022); Member of the board of the branch of the Association of Lawyers of Ukraine in Kyiv; Member of the Ukrainian Arbitration Association and the Ukrainian Association of International Law.

Legal advisor of the Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group, graduate student of the Department of European Union Law of the Yaroslav the Wise National Law University (specialization in “international law”), master of law and master of international economic relations, representative at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), co-author of the book of the KhPG on the implementation of decisions of the ECHR in Ukraine, author of two communications of the KhPG to the Committee of the Ministers of the Council of Europe regarding the implementation of decisions of the ECHR, co-author of two submissions of the KhPG to the ICC regarding international crimes allegedly committed by the Russian military in Ukraine, author of analytical publications of the KhPG.
