A 2,000-copy circulation of the first issue of the Visti newspaper, which is published in Sloviyansk, Donetsk Region, has reached its readers. The newspaper was revived with the assistance of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU).

Oleksandr Kulbaka, the newspaper’s editor-in-chief, has reported this to the NUJU.

“Copies have been sent to the Kramatorsk mail processing center (for delivery to last year’s subscribers), as well as to the Sloviyansk Military Administration and, with its assistance, to the city’s medical facilities, the Administrative Services Center and the Social Security Administration (for free distribution),” the editor said.

According to him, even before the newspaper arrived in the city, he received a phone call from a resident of the satellite city of Sloviyansk, Mykolayivka. Having learned that Visti had been restored, she expressed her willingness to subscribe to the newspaper.

“Of course, such calls are very inspiring, although we cannot yet organize a new subscription,” says Oleksandr Kulbaka.

As earlier reported, the revival of the printed press in the front-line and de-occupied territories, where mobile communication and the Internet are often unstable or completely absent, is among the priorities for the NUJU.

Visti became the 26th newspaper revived in the front-line and de-occupied territories with the assistance of the Union.
